A Story You Can’t Skip
In Pre-Awaken Part 2 we find a depowered Sose squaring off against a new nemesis a mysterious villain named Richter who “threatens to upend everything” in his path.
The tension comes from seeing Sose pushed to his limits without his full powers, plus the personal stakes teased last time.
The series has always been about who Sose is as much as what he can do, even grounding his superhero origin in very human themes like overcoming childhood bullying.
In short, it’s a smart mix of personal drama and sci-fi action that keeps you hooked: Sose’s backstory (and even supporting allies) make every showdown feel meaningful.
The Art
Adeleye’s artwork really makes this world pop. His linework is bold and gritty, sharp angles and confident strokes give the scenes real energy.
The panel above shows a towering mech-villain emerging from smoke, and you can literally feel the tension; details like gritty texture and strong silhouettes help sell the action.
Even without the dialogue, the visuals are expressive characters’ faces and body language come through clearly.
Fans have praised this style as uniquely “naijalistic” (very Nigerian) and it shows: the urban Lagos setting and modern heroes all feel grounded in a real, lived-in world.
In short, every page looks crisp and exciting.

Coloring
The color work in this issue is equally striking. Bright, saturated tones make the action scenes zing, while moodier shadows lend weight to tense moments.
In one scene, for example, the glowing blues and purples of Sose’s sound powers stand out in stark contrast to the dark alley backdrop.
Reviewers have said the colors here are “incredible” and I agree. It keeps the sci-fi vibe fresh and dynamic without ever feeling flat.
The palette also helps clarify what’s going on in chaotic panels: you can instantly spot heroes versus villains or spot Sose’s sound effects thanks to thoughtful color choices.
Why You Should Read This
Beats (Pre-Awaken) Part 2 is a blast, plain and simple. The characters feel real and relatable, the story moves at a brisk pace, and the dialog is snappy enough to pull you through each issue.
It doesn’t bog down in jargon or filler. Plus, even casual readers can jump in here (we get quick reminders of what happened before) and have a great time.
The tech-driven beats powers and thoughtful themes (identity, trust, standing up to bullies) give it a little depth, but it never takes itself too seriously.
In a word: it’s genuinely fun to read.
