Durban FilmMart Pitch & Finance Forum 2025: Applications Now Open!

If you’ve been cooking up a fire animation or live-action project and you’re looking for the perfect stage to pitch it, this is your moment!

The Durban FilmMart (DFM) Pitch and Finance Forum is officially open for applications and yes, it’s open to filmmakers across Africa.

What’s the Forum About?

The DFM Pitch and Finance Forum is one of the biggest platforms on the continent where African creatives can pitch their projects directly to industry professionals, financiers, and potential partners.

It’s not just about showing off your idea. It’s about getting real connections, funding opportunities, and mentorship to take your story to the next level.

Who Can Apply?

Applications are open for both animation and live-action projects in development. Here’s the breakdown:

African filmmakers only: producers, directors, or writers with valid African citizenship (passport or ID required).

Africans in the Diaspora: you’re eligible too, as long as you still hold African citizenship.

Team ready: projects must have both a producer and director attached.

Non-African producers, directors, and writers? You can’t apply to pitch, but you can register as delegates to connect and collaborate.

How Projects Get Picked

Not everyone makes the cut, so here’s the selection flow:

Technical check – Do you meet the eligibility criteria?

Project evaluation – A panel of industry experts reviews your project package.

Shortlist – Selected applicants are contacted to confirm availability.

Final announcement – The official participants list goes public.

The Deadline You Can’t Miss

Applications close on Friday, 31 October 2025 at 23:59 CAT.

So, if you’ve got that script, concept art, or dream project sitting on your laptop, this is your chance to pitch it on an international platform!
