Unity for Humanity 2026 Opens Applications, Offering Major Boost for African Game and XR Creators

A major opportunity has opened for African game developers, immersive storytellers, and XR creators who are using technology to solve real-world problems.

Unity for Humanity 2026 is now accepting applications, inviting creators to secure funding, support, and global visibility for projects focused on social impact.

The Unity for Humanity Grant is designed for creators building games, interactive experiences, and real-time 3D (RT3D) projects that address pressing global challenges.

These include education, health, culture, climate action, inclusion, and community development areas where African creators are already driving powerful, locally rooted innovation.

For 2026, Unity will award a total of $600,000 USD across multiple projects, supporting initiatives that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Selected creators will not only receive funding, but also technical support and international exposure, helping them scale their ideas beyond local boundaries while preserving authentic voices and contexts.

Why This Matters for African Creators

Africa’s gaming and immersive media ecosystem is growing rapidly, with creators producing meaningful stories grounded in lived experiences.

Unity for Humanity offers a rare chance to take those ideas to a global stage without losing cultural depth or purpose.

Projects can be built using Unity or other real-time 3D engines, making the grant accessible to a wide range of creators working in gaming, AR, VR, and mixed reality.

Whether it’s an educational game, a cultural preservation project, a health-focused simulation, or a community-driven interactive experience, Unity for Humanity is looking for ideas that can create measurable impact.

To help applicants prepare strong submissions, Unity has made available two key resources:

  • Unity for Humanity: Guide for Creators, a short course designed to walk applicants through the process
  • Examples from Past Winners, offering insight into successful projects and how they aligned creativity with impact

Reviewing past winning projects is strongly encouraged, especially for creators looking to understand how social good and technology can work together effectively.

Application Details

Applications are open now and will close on February 20, 2026, at 11:59 pm PT. Creators are encouraged to apply early and carefully review eligibility requirements, guidelines, and FAQs.

If you have a project that tells a powerful story, solves a real problem, or uplifts communities through interactive technology, Unity for Humanity 2026 could be your next big step.
