The 2025 Concept Art Award for Animated Series – Character Design for his stunning work on Noni – Eyes of Wakanda.

The 2025 Concept Art Awards took place on Saturday, October 25, from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, Los Angeles County, California.
During the world-renowned LightBox Expo, a festival that gathers the brightest minds in art, animation, and storytelling.
The ceremony celebrated professional, independent, and student artists across categories like character design, creature creation, keyframe, color keys, visual development, and more alongside special honors such as the Rising Star, LBX Luminary, and Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Judged by a panel of top industry experts, the Concept Art Awards honor the most exceptional talents shaping global entertainment from films and animation to video games and virtual reality.
So when Dunkwu’s name was announced, it wasn’t just a win. It was a moment.

From Lagos Sketchbooks to Marvel’s Eyes of Wakanda
Dunkwu’s creative journey began in 2015, armed with nothing but passion and a sketchpad.
“I only knew one thing, I loved to draw,” he said.
Fast-forward seven years, and his character design for Noni in Marvel’s Eyes of Wakanda has earned him a seat among the industry’s best alongside artists from hit shows like Arcane.
Unable to attend in person due to U.S. visa delays, Dunkwu’s award was accepted on his behalf by fellow designer Joshua James Shaw his mentor and supervisor and will be shipped to him later.

In a heartfelt message, Dunkwu expressed deep gratitude to God, his wife (who was pregnant during the project), and his creative team including producer Patty Jausoro, director Todd Harris, and mentors like Dan Holland, Mindy Lee, Mel Milton, and Steven E. Gordon.
“This award is for the team! I’m most grateful to the One who gives me uncommon inspiration and direction after I whisper silent prayers before every blank canvas, the Holy Spirit!”
