Accra, Ghana, the creative energy in Ghana is reaching a fever pitch as the Ananse Heritage Project announces the 3rd Edition of the Anansekrom Toon Festival (ATF) Africa’s International Cartoon Festival set to hold this December 2025!

This vibrant celebration of African storytelling, folklore, and animation returns bigger and bolder, weaving together culture, art, and creativity in a festival designed to inspire the next generation of storytellers.

Officially Endorsed and Backed by Ghana’s Cultural Powerhouses

The Anansekrom Toon Festival proudly carries the endorsement of some of Ghana’s leading cultural and creative institutions:

December 2025: A Month of Folklore, Animation, and Inspiration

Scheduled for December 26, 2025, the festival promises to be a colorful blend of education, entertainment, and cultural exchange. This third edition continues the legacy of the previous festivals spotlighting African animation, comics, and cartoon creators while reviving the timeless tales of Kweku Ananse and other folklore heroes through a modern creative lens.

With a lineup of interactive workshops, exhibitions, screenings, and storytelling sessions, participants will have the chance to learn, connect, and celebrate Africa’s rich artistic identity.

The Big Reveal This October

Before the main event in December, this October marks the mega launch of the Anansekrom Toon Festival’s flagship project, a prelude to what promises to be Ghana’s biggest creative gathering of the year.

The event will introduce fresh initiatives, partnerships, and cultural collaborations that highlight how storytelling continues to shape Africa’s creative future.

The festival is presented by the Ananse Heritage Project, in collaboration with Parables Animation Studios and Verbal Transformers, the minds behind some of Ghana’s most inspiring creative platforms.
