Lagos, Nigeria, after more than a decade of silence, Stallion Comics is officially back.
The once-promising Nigerian comic studio, known for titles like Black Raven and Guardian X, has announced its return under the leadership of founder Wisdom Omon.

Omon broke the news on his Facebook page, revealing a fresh logo and teasing a full relaunch of the Stallion Comics brand.
While he didn’t give specifics on what prompted the revival, industry watchers believe the recent boom in African creative industries especially the success of comic IPs like Iyanu transitioning into animation might have sparked the comeback.
But the announcement has also stirred debate. Fans quickly noticed that many of the new Stallion Comics visuals appear to be AI-generated.
That’s raised eyebrows among Nigerian artists, who fear that studios might begin replacing traditional illustrators and colorists with artificial intelligence tools.

“AI might make production faster, but it takes away the soul of the art,” one Lagos-based illustrator commented.
Others, however, see it as evolution, a chance for smaller studios to compete globally without heavy budgets.
As Stallion Comics preps its official relaunch, one question lingers:
Should Nigerian comic studios embrace AI, or double down on the raw human talent that built the industry?
