Lagos is gearing up for a December like no other as ARTFrikanity, the festival where every shade tells a story, unveils a citywide celebration of African art, identity, and imagination.
From December 1st to 28th, 2025, the city will pulse with colour as four major art experiences plus a special fringe showcase turn Lagos into a sprawling, living gallery stretching from Victoria Island to Ikoyi to Mushin.
As 100 African artists paint, sculpt, perform, and speak their truths, ARTFrikanity boldly declares its message to the world:
It’s All About Hue, your story, your struggle, your soul. On canvas. In colour.
A City Transformed by Art
At Babalakin & Co., visitors will step into the rare intersection of creativity and the law, discovering how artistic expression is protected, negotiated, and amplified within Nigeria’s legal framework.
Here, the artist’s imagination meets the lawyer’s contract in a dialogue that shapes the future of African art.
Along the lagoon, the historic Lagos Motor Boat Club becomes a floating gallery where sculptural installations rise from the water an immersive blend of art, food, and music that captures the boundless, ever-moving spirit of Lagos.
Over at Pier Harbour by SRS, curated installations merge with modern luxury, creating a vibrant space where African lifestyle meets sophisticated design.
This is art that isn’t just observed. It’s lived, tasted, and felt.
At Space:1699, heritage takes center stage as traditional sculptures, textiles, and ancestral forms stand side by side with contemporary reimaginations.
It is a layered journey through memory, identity, and modern African expression.
The festival’s Fringe Programme honors legendary master printmaker Bruce Onobrakpeya and the Harmattan Workshop, spotlighting the visionary experimentation that transformed Agbarha-Otor into Africa’s own creative laboratory.
