Nigeria’s powerhouse film distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, has officially secured exclusive global distribution rights for the upcoming feature film Behind the Scenes, directed by Nigeria’s box office queen Funke Akindele.
The deal follows her record-smashing combined box office haul of over ₦3.3 billion, further solidifying FilmOne’s status as the engine behind some of Nollywood’s biggest hits.
Scheduled for release nationwide on December 12, Behind the Scenes marks another major collaboration between Akindele and FilmOne, promising the smart balance of laughter, heart, and relatable storytelling that has defined her blockbuster trajectory.
The announcement came hot on the heels of the 2025 FilmOne Exhibitors’ Showcase, where the company unveiled a packed slate of upcoming titles including The Herd, 3 Cold Dishes, Colours of Fire, Oversabi Aunty and War Lord while underscoring FilmOne’s growth in partnerships with global studios such as Disney, Sony, and Warner Bros.
FilmOne’s co-founders emphasized that the Akindele deal plays directly into their mission: to elevate Nigerian storytelling to international audiences through strategic alliances and bigger platforms.
In parallel, the company announced a renewed partnership with actress-producer Toyin Abraham for her upcoming December releases, after Iyalode surpassed ₦300 million at the box office.
With these strategic collaborations, FilmOne continues to expand its role as West Africa’s premier entertainment powerhouse, bridging local creative talent with global distribution channels and redefining the future of Nollywood.
