Femi Adebayo Announces December 4 Netflix Release for Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors

Nigerian actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has announced December 4, 2026, as the release date for Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors, the highly anticipated sequel to his 2023 Yoruba epic film, Jagun Jagun: The Warrior.

The film is set to premiere on Netflix, bringing audiences back into the world of warriors, kingdoms and power struggles that defined the original.

Adebayo unveiled the upcoming production in a teaser shared on his social media pages, giving fans their first glimpse of the sequel ahead of its December release.

Accompanying the announcement was a cryptic message that hinted at the lasting influence of a feared figure, even in his absence.

“Even in his absence, his name remained a curse whispered behind closed doors. Some men are made by war. Others are the reason kingdoms learn to fear it,” the filmmaker wrote.

The message has offered a glimpse into the atmosphere of War of Warriors, although details about the film’s full storyline and the characters returning for the sequel have yet to be revealed.

What to Expect From Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors

The upcoming film follows the success of Jagun Jagun: The Warrior, which premiered on Netflix on August 10, 2023. Produced by Femi Adebayo and Euphoria360 Media, the original film was directed by Adebayo Tijani and Tope Adebayo Salami.

The story follows a young man determined to become a powerful warrior who sets out to join the army of a legendary warlord. His ambition leads him into a dangerous world of violence, loyalty, love and revenge, where the pursuit of power comes with devastating consequences.

The film featured Femi Adebayo alongside Lateef Adedimeji, Bimbo Ademoye, Faithia Balogun, Bukunmi Oluwasina, Ibrahim Yekini and Muyiwa Ademola, among other cast members.

While the original film centred on the making of a warrior and the consequences of serving a feared warlord, the sequel’s title, War of Warriors, suggests a return to the conflict-driven world of the franchise.

However, the specific events that will drive the new story remain undisclosed.

The first Jagun Jagun attracted attention for its portrayal of Yoruba culture, traditional warfare, elaborate costumes and large-scale battle sequences. Its release on Netflix also introduced the film to audiences beyond Nigeria, contributing to wider conversations about indigenous-language filmmaking and African historical epics.

The film received significant industry recognition, winning Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa) and Best Costume Design at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA). It also earned recognition at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, winning in categories including Achievement in Makeup and Achievement in Visual Effects.

Those achievements helped establish Jagun Jagun as a notable production in contemporary Yoruba-language cinema, raising expectations for the next instalment.

When Will Jagun Jagun 2 Be Released?

Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on December 4, 2026.

With the release date now confirmed, viewers can look forward to the return of one of Femi Adebayo’s best-known epic film franchises.

The teaser has introduced the sequel’s title and set the tone for its arrival, but audiences will have to wait for further announcements to learn more about the story, cast and what awaits them in this new chapter.

For now, one question remains, what happens when the name of a feared warrior continues to command power long after his absence?
