Spoof Animation Names Osas Akugbe As New Managing Director

From Painting Sceneries to Running the Studio

Spoof Animation has a new Managing Director, and it’s a familiar face. After six months of probation at the helm, Osas Akugbe has officially been confirmed as MD. The appointment, finalized back in February, was only just shared by Osas on LinkedIn—because apparently running a studio leaves little time for social media humblebrags.

A Decade in the Trenches

Osas has been with Spoof for over 10 years, starting as “just a young lad who wanted to paint sceneries.” He joined the company at its earliest stages (back in 2015, when “Nigerian animation studio” sounded like an oxymoron) and steadily rose from digital comic artist to Creative Director. Now, he adds MD to his title, proving that sometimes loyalty really does pay.

The Boss Still Has a Boss

While Osas takes over as Managing Director and Creative Director, Ayodele Elegba remains CEO and Chairman of the larger Spoof Media Group. Translation: the new MD gets to run day-to-day battles, but the old boss still has final say on which dragons get animated.

Looking Ahead at Spoof’s Next Chapter

In his post, Osas thanked management and Elegba for the opportunity, writing: “It’s been a great journey and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.” Considering Spoof’s ambitious plans—reviving its comics division, pushing out more animation, and battling for Nigeria’s place in global geekdom—he’s got his work cut out for him.

Spoof calls itself the “House of Magic.” Now we get to see what happens when one of its founding magicians is handed the wand.
